Gautam Adani’s coal company is greeting the Bob Brown Foundation’s Stop Adani Convoy with an anti-convoy ‘save Adani’ advertising blitz.
“Lucas Dow knows where to contact me but clearly doesn’t care to,” Bob Brown said in Harvey Bay this morning, as the convoy proceeds to Rockhampton, Yepoon and Emu Park. After the 4,000-strong rally in Brisbane on Monday, the next convoy event will be a rally for the Great Barrier Reef in Airlie Beach on Friday.

More than 400 people, including the mayors of Bellingen and Glen Innes, gave the convoy a rousig send-off from the Coffs Harbour Showground this morning.

The Stop Adani Convoy has left sunny Hobart this morning after being sent off by a large, jubilant, crowd of supporters. Organisers had expected 60 but more than 600 turned out. The convoy now has 754 cars registered, all part of this citizens' action for climate change during a crucial election period.
“We are a celebration in motion. It is a community commitment – an act of defiance – for the future of our planet. A peaceful protest against Gautam Adani’s mine, which his operatives say will be under way soon,” said Bob Brown.

Two vehicles involved in last Friday’s blockade of school buses (which had been booked to take scores of entrants to the start of the takayna Ultra, an ultra-marathon in the Tarkine) have been issued with infringement notices for parking to obstruct. The event was organised by the Bob Brown Foundation and backed by international outdoors clothing company Patagonia as well as investment company Australian Ethical. Online supporters of the infringed vehicles are seething.
